What Will Mumbles Ban Next?

Mayor Thomas M. Menino is blaming widespread brawling and wilding at a free city-sponsored weekend rap concert on hordes of “kids from suburbia” who unexpectedly came out en masse to party with Pittsburgh hip-hop phenom Mac Miller.

“Most of them . . . were kids from suburbia,” Menino told the Herald of the estimated 40,000 who packed City Hall Plaza for Saturday’s free rap show. “The crowd, after the concert broke up, got very unruly as they went to the different transit stations in the neighborhood. It was a crowd that moved in surges.”

The rest of the story can be viewed on the Boston Herald's site here:

Menino blames rap melee on burb thugs

After a rap concert in city hall plaza, a fight breaks out......What a surprise. I wonder if the results would be similar if they had a higher police presence. Also, my memory, and a cursory search of google, fails to bring up a case of a rap concert at the Comcast Center in Mansfield(about as "suburban" as you can get in MA) having A comparable melee after their rap concerts.

Funny thing is that what Menino fails to mention is that the reason it was “kids from suburbia” is that the city kids were too busy shooting and stabbing each other. And even if all the kids were just sitting on their front steps enjoying a wholesome glass of milk, and suddenly decided to attend this fine musical performance, most would be unable to. Seeing as all the city kids are such fine upstanding citizens just trying to turn their life around, they wouldn't be able to make it.......Menino already banned scooters.

And if any of the kids were to ignore this, drink those powerful "two beers", and decide to try to run down one of our fine boys in blue on their evil verboten scooters, rest assured, even Kanye "I'mma let you finish" West and Jay-Z would be too busy laughing their asses of to "honor him" with a mention in a song.

Back to the main topic though. If Mumbles is reading this (which i sincerely doubt, as I haven't had my door knocked in by SWAT who then shoot my cat) I propose banning rap concerts. Because something that would turn such a large number of law abiding and otherwise upstanding citizens into rioting maniacs, then such things must be banned COUNTLESS EXAMPLES TO THE CONTRARY BE DAMNED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Northeast Bloggershoot 2011

After quite a hiatus, I have returned to my irregularly scheduled ramblings. I would like to extend my thanks to all of the people I have either just met earlier today, or had gotten reacquainted with. You were all nice enough to let me put rounds down range through your firearms, and taking the time to answer any questions I may have had. Fun times were had by all. And considering all the full auto, the evil black rifles, the hand held metal thingys that go boom, there was not a single murderous rampage, nor were there any "gun deaths". maybe a few scrapes here and there. I managed to get a nice bruise on my leg from one of JayG's 30 round 10/22 magazines dropping when I tried to rapid fire with 2 of them coupled together. O well, just finished emptying the first one, then loaded the second one and attained vengeance against the evil UN gorilla. I will definitely be attending next year, and hope to have a few toys of my own to bring.

MArooned: It's A Major Award!

For those of you that have stumbled onto my blog for whatever reason, be it from clicking the "Next Blog" link at the top of the page, accidentally clicked onto a link from the odd google search, or I actually have readers and am not just babbling into cyberspace, please check out this post over @ MArooned. JayG over there puts up a good mix of politics, gunny news, some cool gun pr0n, and my personal favorite, runs a tally that he affectionately refers to as the Dead Goblin Count(DGC). Basically a tally of successful, legal self-defense shootings that result in one less member of the criminal element. While his blog is a strong recommendation for anyone looking for information on various firearms topics, it is a must-read for the entertainment value alone(especially for anyone in the People's Republic of Massachusetts, or as JayG puts it, the VolksRepublic)

MArooned: It's A Major Award!
The Red Sox won tonight’s game, finally reaching the .500 mark.
Just got home from going out with a friend and his fiancee. If you haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy that which is Buffalo Wild Wings in Saugus, MA (Rte 1 South, in the Kmart Plaza) I could not recommend it enough. The atmosphere is well above average for the area. In most places, they MIGHT have had the Red Sox-Yankees game, the Vancouver-Sharks game, and the Heat-Bulls game. Good luck getting a good view of more than one without torquing your neck. Both the number of TVs present, as well as their placement allows for a good view of all three of the games on (Audio was on for the Sox, and was surprisingly high enough you could actually hear the announcers). The food was of a considerably higher quality than our former Sunday night spot, Hooters in Saugus, for about 20-30% less money. Combine that, the superior service, and the fact that Buffalo Wild Wings is opening a location in Danvers, I don’t give Hooters more than another year or two before business dries up. It is kind of hard for it not too. After a while, the “appeal” wears off, and people, given a competitor with superior service and prices, will vote with their wallets and go elsewhere.

My View on Pension Reform | Ken Donnelly

My View on Pension Reform | Ken Donnelly

The politicians love to rail on and on about how the public pensions are "out of control", "need to be reformed", and "will eventually bankrupt cities and towns". What they will never admit to is that they are the reason the pensions and the economy is in the shitter. The politicians ignore the laws and leave pension plans un-funded, even after resolutions are passed in the face of financial troubles to fund them. Politicians in DC have borrowed against Social Security, yet blame the increase of people drawing from it for the looming insolvency. It is high time that the politicians put their money where their mouths are. If they are going to "reform" any pensions, theirs should be at the top of the list. Not only do they make obscene amounts of money for doing a "job" that is incredibly inefficient, and with no risk whatsoever, they have the audacity to place the blame their financial mistakes and mismanagement on the very people that risk their lives every time they put the uniform on and step out the door. Our police officers, firefighters, EMTs/paramedics, and members of the armed forces do not ask for much. The vast majority would just like to be left alone to do their job and live their life in peace, with maybe an occasional "thank you" from the politicians and public that lauds them after a success, yet is quick to blame them for every perceived problem in government. It takes a special type of person to put up with a job where in the vast majority of cases a single "Aw shit" can erase a thousand "Atta Boys(and Girls)".

Henry Family 'Disgusted' By Officer Of Year Honors - Boston News Story - WCVB Boston

Henry Family 'Disgusted' By Officer Of Year Honors - Boston News Story - WCVB Boston

How well the kid did academically (or whether his being a "star athlete through high school and college" may have 'helped' his grades), has nothing to do with the actions of a drunk that hit the cop with the car. If he was "moving his car like the cops told him to" and "the cop just stood in front of the car", and "he was only going 10MPH", there is one incredible easy thing even drunk people can do, it's called STOPPING THE FUCKING CAR!!!! If he would've stepped on the break pedal instead of accelerating and running down the cop, he would have been detained, maybe had a few tickets written, and worst case, gotten a DUI. But, he hit the cop, was justifiably shot as a result, and perished. The moral of the story is PLAY STUPID GAMES, WIN STUPID PRIZES!!!!

Jeremy Fraser finally has justice. This being MA though, even if she is sentenced to the maximum, she'll be out in 10 years, 15 tops, as opposed to the life sentence she deserves.

Thoughts on the almost government shut down

People see all sorts of random "post this on your (facebook)status for one hour" chain messages that go around, but never actually make a difference. Well here's one message that, if enough people post it, will make a difference. If the 2008 and 2010 elections have taught us anything, it's the following. The politicians (both Democrat and Republican) will tell all the sheeple whatever it takes to get votes, but in the end it is business as usual with the petty political squabbles, and contests of who can waste the taxpayer's money in the most idiotic way possible. One side via the various "welfare" programs that has turned this country into a group of people unable to be self-sufficient, and only able to survive on the government dole. The other side with various government subsidies that supposedly are going to jumpstart the economy, but only end up enriching those that are already rich beyond all imagination. Both sides' agendas continue to be carried out at the expense of the working man. Well, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!! It is time to put a limit on all welfare programs. If after 1 year you have not done so much as flip burgers at BK or McDonalds, tough luck. Oh, and you have to pass random drug tests, just like the rest of the people that actually work for their money. 1 positive test=rehab and a reduction in aid and mandatory weekly testing. 2nd positive test within 6 months=Mandatory revocation of all aid. And for those of you that think I may be biased, there should be a limit on government subsidies of corporations. They should be directly proportional to the % of the jobs in a company are in the USA, as well as the mean wages for said jobs, with the exception of the company elite. If you take too many jobs overseas, or cut pay/lay off too may people=bye bye government subsidies and tax breaks. Also, the 27th Amendment to the Constitution should be amended to affect that in the event the government "shuts down", there will be NO STOPPAGE OR REDUCTION IN PAY for the armed forces. If anything, each congress member and the President should be fined $2500 per day of the shut down. Also, any increase in pay for politicians should automatically trigger an increase in pay of an equal percentage to all military personnel. Now I realize this is really long for a status, but if we have learned one thing from the media, it is that social networking sites are being utilized by the politicians, and that they take notice of their constituents' views and opinions. Let's see as many people as possible repost this for at least 1 hour, and let the politicians in Washington know that they have been warned. Put the bull shit partisan politics aside and smarten up, or it will be THEIR turn to be in the unemployment line.

Intro

Hello All:
I am pretty new to this whole writing without being forced to. I am a 21 year old college student, EMT, sports fan, and purveyor of interesting information, currently living in the People's Republic of Massachusetts (PRM). If I had to state my political stance, I'd say I am a conservative leaning moderate member of The Rent Is Too Damn High Party. I will probably post things from a bunch of different topics. Mostly comment on current events, some EMS topics, professional sports, the idiocy that is the People's Republic, and whatever the hell pops into my head that sounds good. I think I'll run a reciprocal  blog roll with the caveat that if the topic of a blog is totally against my beliefs, I may decline the link. Running out of ideas on what to say, so I'll shut up now.
